EFCA Newsletter No. 8 published 31 March
EFCA's most recent Newsletter is focussing on effectiveness of policies. The Directives of the EU often have to be implemented at local level and there is a risk that part of the intentions are being lost along the chain from Europe - national authorities - regional level - local administration.
The focus is the result of EFCA's recent Policy Inititiative, "Linking air pollution and climate change: a challenge for European legislation" which was sent to European policymakers recently. The Recommendations which followed from an analysis of existing Directives in the domains of air pollution and climate change are included in the Newsletter. EFCA have also invited the Commission and several European organisations which represent the the regional and local levels to co-sponsor an event which will address aspects of the implementaion of European legislation.
